This gallery shows an NWA 6386 Dioginite meteorite thin section viewed in cross polarized light with the addition of retardation filters.Very beautiful material on the microscope. If you ever get the chance to view meteorites on a cross polarized light microscope, don’tpass it up. I try to capture the beauty with my micrographs but no matter what, the pictures fall short of the real thing, but here goesmy attempt anyway!
This set is 160X
For starters, this is a zoom set starting with the full thin section and ending with a magnification of 760X. I focused in on one unusuallooking inclusion.
