Gallery Quick Links
This gallery shows a DHO 007 meteorite, classified as a Eucrite, thin section viewed through cross polarized light. Eucrites get their name from the Greek word eukritos meaning "easily distinguished". In use, the word Eucrite is often used to describe a material as “Earth Like”. The link to the Met Society official information on DHO007 can be found here.
This set is taken in a magnification of 160X in partially cross polarized light with the addition of a retardation filter.
