This gallery showcases Al Huqf 007 L5. This meteorite was found in Oman in 2002. It may be an inauspicious material (L5, S3, W3)but it is one of the most beautiful in cross polarized light. I was so impressed I bought multiple thin sections. The Meteoritical Bulletin Database page on this material can be found hereThis batch of images are all taken in cross polarized transmitted (pass through) light. To say cross polarized is not completely accurate,I am searching for beauty with this set, as such, I set it up in any way it looks good. It turns out I use varying degrees of partiallycross polarized light with the addition of ¼ or full wavelength retardation filters.
I start with a magnification of 80X. To me, this is a wide field shot!
This next set is taken at a magnification of 160X.
